Bologna Book Fair

You could easily spend all your time at Bologna Book Fair wandering around the 4 large halls which are all full of publishers stands. However if you look a little further there are several amazing exhibitions of beautiful picture book work happening at the fair itself and around the town. This year we were lucky enough to see all the exhibitions at the fair as well as a Richard Scarry exhibition, a show on book binding, a selection of incredible board books at the central library and the original artwork for Al Mercato by Susanna Mattiangeli and Vessela Nikolova. Another part of the fair is meeting illustrators and authors from all over the world! Some of which you might know through social media and some who you might discover whilst at the fair!

“Altogether I had seven meetings, six of them publishers and one agency. It was great to get feedback on my work and hear the different opinions. I loved looking at all the work on the illustrators wall and taking photos of ones that I liked. The fair was very busy and bustling with people, but there was a good energy there – everyone was excited to meet each other and discover beautiful work. It was fantastic to meet fellow illustrators that I had previously connected with on Instagram – everyone was so friendly and welcoming!”
